MEQUON - There was a dramatic scene in Mequon where flooding has people looking for higher ground.
Homes in Mequon near Highland ended up a couple feet underwater. The flooding is so bad people have moved some of their belongings to higher ground.
“The ground is so saturated and we had all that snow and a quick melt,” said Tommy Lemke. “I just kinda got caught by surprise.”
The flood is a sight Tommy lemke had hoped he would never see again after going through the floods of 2008. Five years later, he's now helping his neighbors who aren't here to save their homes from disaster.
“The sewers are starting to top off, so I'm getting a pump and some hoses ready,” he said.
Despite all of the damage, Lemke says it’s tragic events like this that shows how important good neighbors are.
