MILWAUKEE - By the time the teachers union contract expires June 30 and Milwaukee Public Schools becomes fully exposed to legislation giving the school board more power over setting work rules, wages and benefits, a total of 719 staff members will be headed out of the district, according to the latest district figures.
Retirement and resignation data offered by MPS this week shows that 719 staffers intend to leave before the end of June. Of those, 503 are teachers and 31 are administrators -- including principals, assistant principals and central services administrators -- according to the district.
