ST. FRANCIS - Hundreds of volunteers helped deliver thousands of Easter meals to low income senior citizens Sunday.
Community Projects for Seniors organized the annual dinner. The group said around 500 volunteers helped cook, package and deliver the hot meals.
More than 4,000 Easter dinners were distributed in eight counties.
Ruth Gullon received one of the meals and says she was so thankful for the special dinner.
"I haven't been feeling to good, so I haven't been cooking to much," Gullon says.
Dennis Havey has helped deliver meals for about five years. He says he doesn't mind spending part of his Easter morning helping others.
"This only takes an hour on the holiday morning, it's just great when the people open the door and they're so grateful for the meal," Havey says.
Community Projects for Seniors says they received no government funding to help pay for the meal. It's made possible by donations.
