MILWAUKEE - Two missing girls on Milwaukee's north side have been found safe, police confirmed Sunday afternoon.
Samaria Johnson, 9, and Olivia Erkins, 4, are sisters. They were last seen late Saturday at their home near N. 55th and W. Center Streets, police said. They are said to be safe.
Their parents put them to bed sometime after 10:30pm, according to investigators. When they checked on the girls 15 minutes later, they were gone.
"The parents went to check on the children to ensure they were sleeping and discovered the children were not in the bedroom," Capt. Regina Howard said. "(There are) no signs of forced entry."
It appears as if the children took their winter coats with them when they left the home. The children were dropped off at Milwaukee Police District 5 by a concerned citizen, according to investigators.
No word on their conditions.
