Temperatures should stay below normal, which is 44 degrees, through the weekend and most of next week in Milwaukee. The next threat for snow comes in on Sunday, and we could see a couple of inches by Monday morning.

Yesterday the high temperature for the first day of spring in Milwaukee was twenty-one degrees, which is twenty-three degrees below the normal and was the fifth coldest on record for Milwaukee. The coldest first day of spring for Milwaukee was an unbelievable six degrees, set back in 1885.

To bring yesterday’s cold start to spring in perspective, the high temperature on Wednesday would be considered a chilly day in any of the three winter months. On the first day of winter Milwaukee’s normal high temperature is 31 degrees, while the normal high temperature for Feb. 20 is 34 degrees. The normal high temperature for the average coldest time of the year, Jan. 20, is 29 degrees.

Today’s record high temperature is 84 degrees, Milwaukee’s warmest for the whole month of March, and was set just last year.
