38-year-old woman sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries after Hwy. 41 crash

OUTGAMIE COUNTY - An Appleton woman is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash that occurred around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.
According to Sgt. Jeffrey Nelson with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the crash happened on US 41 southbound at College Avenue near Appleton.
"A semi tractor trailer unit and Toyota Echo were both merging into the center lane of the highway and did not see each other," Nelson said. "The right front bumper of the semi tractor trailer unit struck the rear bumper of the Toyota causing it to rollover. The vehicle rolled numerous times ejecting the female driver."
The driver of the Toyota is a 38-year-old woman from Appleton, whose name is not being released until her family has been notified. She was taken to Theda Clark Hospital with life-threatening injuries. According to Nelson, the 47-year-old driver of the semi tractor trailer unit from Green Bay was not injured.
Wisconsin State Patrol continues to investigate.
