Zoo Interchange project impacting drivers

WAUWATOSA - Drivers are bracing for big delays Monday as another portion of the Zoo Interchange Project gets underway.

Orange barrels and construction equipment already line WIS 100/Mayfair Rd. The section of highway being reconstructed spans from where WIS 100 meets I-94, North to Watertown Plank Rd.
"It's a little bit of a mess, but we realize it's got to get done," said Tom Meister.
The New Berlin man and his family frequent Edwardo's Pizza in Wauwatosa near the construction site.
Reconstruction has not officially started but Meister told TODAY'S TMJ4 he has already experienced delays.
"Last week when we came here, we had to wait for all the vehicles to move to get in here, but we were patient and got in," said Meister.
He plans on continuing to frequent businesses like Edwardo's during construction.
The project will expand WIS 100 from two lanes to four lanes in each direction.

Planners say the project will help ease traffic flow when I-94 undergoes major reconstruction next year.
