WAUKESHA - Waukesha police are looking for a man suspected of putting a skimmer device on an ATM at a local bank.
"On Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 the Waukesha Police Department responded to the US Bank located at 2040 Silvernail Road in the City of Waukesha," said Sergeant Jerry Habanek. "US Bank and Diebold employees alerted the police that a 'skimmer' device had been placed on an ATM machine at this location."
Police found the skimmer device, plus a blue bar that sat on top of the machine that contained a pinhole camera. According to Habanek, the camera was recording people punching in their pin numbers.
"A technician from Diebold explained that the way he could tell that the ATM machine had been compromised was that the card reader did not light up when a card was inserted," Habanek added. "He also noted that the blue bar containing the pinhole camera was colored a slightly lighter blue than the screen.
