BURLINGTON - The fire at the Echo Lake Foods plant in Burlington has left 300 workers without jobs, but Racine County is hoping to help them out.
The Racine County Workforce Development Center will be sponsoring a Job Fair for Echo Lake employees on Feb. 13 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Veterans Terrance – 589 Milwaukee Avenue, in Burlington, WI.
"This job fair has been organized in response to the fire at the Echo Lake Foods facility in Burlington, and it follows informational briefings to be held tomorrow," said Racine County Executive Jim Ladwig. “It is important that these vital government services are brought directly to the people affected by this tragic fire and loss of jobs."
Employers are invited to recruit for current job openings ranging from entry level positions to those requiring advanced degrees. “A wide range of jobs will be available; from entry level warehouse, maintenance mechanic, forklift operators, hospitality positions, assembly, production workers, truck packers, industrial and electrical engineers,” said Ladwig.
Job seekers may prepare resumes and make copies in advance of the fair by visiting the Racine County Workforce Development Center at 1717 Taylor Avenue or in Burlington at 496 McCanna Parkway or other job centers in the region.
