GREEN BAY - Fans lined Friday up outside Lambeau Field in sub-zero cold and wind chills to pick up tickets to Donald Driver's retirement event. According to Aaron Popkey with the Green Bay Packers, the tickets are now all gone. They were all claimed in less than an hour.
Driver tweeted Friday morning - "I just heard that the tickets sold out in 15 min.Sorry to everyone that didn't get them. Thanks for the love and support in the cold weather."
WTMJ news partner station WTAQ in Green Bay talked with two fans who waited at 3:00 a.m., six hours before fans could pick up tickets at the Packers ticket office.
"We just love Donald," said one woman. "We just love the Packers all the way around."
"My daughter heard it on TV. We were on the way to Rhinelander at about 5:00 p.m. (Thursday), and she called with this brainstorm."
"Jackets, five handwarmers. It's pretty warm," said her daughter.
Some reports said that a few fans waited since 10:00 p.m. Thursday night.
Driver responded this morning with a tweet, saying "To all the great fans out there standing in the cold to celebrate this moment with me and my family. Love you all. This is for you!!!"
The Packers would only allow fans who stand in line outside Lambeau Field to get tickets to the event.
