MILWAUKEE - We gave them an award for clean dining, but now this "to-go" spot on the north west side has some violations.
Here's what they were doing wrong in the kitchen.
Back in 2007, the Dirty Dining team went to Xee Yoo Chinese on 107th near Brown Deer to give the owners a Blue Ribbon Award.
Now we're back to ask about problems on Xee Yoo's health inspection.
Those problems include storing food in plastic grocery bags.
Those bags contain chemicals and insecticides that can leach into food.
The owners told me that doesn't happen, all the time.
"Not all the time. I know for sure because it's not for the food."
There is one thing that continues to show up on Xee Yoo's inspection report.
They are not putting expiration dates on prepared food.
I was told, "Yeah, we already do that but just some time we just clean it up and put it away."
Ready to eat food has a shelf life of seven days.
An expiration date lets the restaurant know when to throw it out.
The owners showed us the kitchen including a pot full of dirty utensils and equipment.
The owners say it was not being used but they did wash everything.
There were some cross-contamination risks.
No sanitizer was being used to wipe down counters where food is prepared and raw cabbage stored next to raw beef in a cooler.
The owners were also ordered to clean the grease in the hood so it doesn't drip into food.
