Roller-coaster weather this winter

MILWAUKEE - Very warm air rolls into Wisconsin today as a low pressure system races toward the central part of the state.

That projected path should drag up warm and moist air from the southern states which means record or near record breaking temperatures for southern Wisconsin.

Milwaukee’s record high temperature today is fifty-six degrees set on this date in 1914, and we should be able to get near, tie or break that record today.

There will be rain at times and a chance for a few thundershowers in southern Wisconsin.

With two months of winter just about complete we have seen temperatures as high as sixty-five degrees and as low as five below zero.

The first four days of December recorded high temperatures in the fifties and sixties, the warmest coming on December 3rd with a maximum of 65 degrees.

The next couple of weeks were up and down mild with some days in the thirties and others in the forties.

The next cold period came around Christmas from the 22nd through the 27th with high temperatures in the upper-twenties to low-thirties each day.

January continued the roller coaster with a high temperature of 18 degrees on the New Year’s Day, warming into the fifties by the 11th, dropping into the teens by the 21st, and now back in the fifties!
