MILWAUKEE - As snow fell Friday morning, salt trucks headed out to clear of Milwaukee's streets.
Snow started falling at about 4:30 a.m. Friday.
"At five o'clock, we issued the order to roll," explained Sandy Rusch Walton of the Milwaukee DPW on TODAY'S TMJ4's "Live at Daybreak."
She explained that for this first batch of salt, crews won't be using solely salt.
"We'll be mixing it calcium chloride to make it more effective," she told TODAY'S TMJ4's Nick Montes.
"As the temperature rises throughout the day, we'll me switching it to just salt."
How long will they remain out?
"As long as it takes."
In the meantime, Rusch Walton gave a suggestion to help drivers heading out for work or other needs.
"Slow down, give yourself extra time. You will get there."
