GREEN BAY - It became more ominous as the week continued - and after having his sprained left foot reevaluated - expected.
Cedric Benson will finish the season on injured reserve.
"Cedric, I felt, was playing well each and every week as we moved forward," said head coach Mike McCarthy. "With that, we've been rotating Alex Green, James Starks and now having John Kuhn back."
"We were all sorry to hear [Benson] wouldn't be coming back this season. It's definitely a blow but we all have to pick up the slack," added Kuhn.
Now, head coach Mike McCarthy will continue to juggle the three guys he's leaned on since Benson's injury week five at Indy.
"It's really finding the things they all do well and play to that and have that in sync with the run blocking," he said.
"We just have to pick up our end now," said Kuhn. "I think we've been doing that the last couple weeks, we've been playing hard, we've been getting better each and every week since Ced's been out."
Kuhn said there isn't one key to getting the Packers much maligned ground attack on track. It takes all 11 on offense pulling their weight equally, according to the fullback.
"The running game isn't just the running back position, every position falls into it. All we can do as running backs is do our job and do it the best we can."
Benson led the Packers through the first 5 weeks in rushing with 248. Since Alex Green and James Starks have taken over, only Green as overtaken Benson in rushing yards with 302. Just 54 more than Benson, who has been inactive since October 7th.
