MILWAUKEE- Cars are vanishing in Milwaukee, and police say they are being stolen and sold to scrap yards.
Some cars parked on the streets and some on private lots have reportedly been stolen and sold.
Court papers show police found four stolen cars at a towing yard at 49th and Villard in September and that was just the beginning.
Milwaukee police found an Oldsmobile and three other cars at "Can't Stop Towing" on the city's north side. Tow truck driver, Tyrone Aikens, has been charged with two counts of theft of a motor vehicle.
Court papers show Can't Stop Towing illegally towed, stole and sold parked cars to a scrap yard on Mill Road -- more than 1,600 cars to be exact -- and 118 of those vehicles were reported stolen.
The owner of Seven Stars Recycling insists they had no idea the towing company was forging junk vehicle bill of sales.
"I have to trust that he's doing what he has to do to acquire the vehicle," says J.P. Rice, owner of Seven Stars Recycling.
Police say this is an open investigation.
