Milwaukee man charged with trying to solicit teen sex slave online

WAUKESHA- A Milwaukee man is accused of trying to solicit a teenage girl online.  That girl turned out to be an undercover Waukesha County sheriff's deputy.

Authorities say Justin Clark put an ad on Craigslist looking for a sex slave.  A sheriff's deputy saw it and responded, posing as a 15-year-old girl.  That didn't stop Clark.  He's now in jail, but authorities say there are more people like him out there and they want you to know what to do to keep them away from your kids.

Kate Buttrum is well aware of the online dangers facing her seven-year-old son, Bryten.

"It's kind of a wakeup call to make sure that we are really watching what they're doing," says Buttrum.

This week, Clark will go to court, facing a felony for trying to solicit a teenage sex slave online.  Just last week, the Department of Justice made a big arrest near Green Bay, uncovering documents, hard drives, tapes, and disks consistent with child porn.

Detective Steve Pederson of the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department says it's easier than you might think to catch these guys.  Most of these predators don't do much to hide their desires.

"Generally after an initial inquiry is made, the response turns very graphic and very sexual in a matter of seconds," says Pederson.

That's why authorities say you need to keep a close eye on your kids.

"I always make sure he's in the same room with me, we pretty much keep the computer in the dining room," says Buttrum.

Authorities recommend that you should also pay attention to how much time your kids spend online, monitor what they're looking at, and call law enforcement right away if something doesn't seem right.

"They're predators, make no mistake about that," says Pederson.  "And they need to be arrested and locked up."

As for Clark's case, he faces 40 years behind bars and a $100,000 in fines if he's convicted.
