MILWAUKEE- More than a hundred dogs need a new place to call home.
The Wisconsin Humane Society has more dogs up for adoption this week than they've had at any one time the rest of the year.
Destiny Ramos and her boyfriend are looking for a companion for their aging dog at home.
"We wanted to get another puppy," said Ramos. "He was trying to convince me to get one for a week or so now, and we saw a couple online."
They have lots of options to choose from.
"This week our population was so high," said Allie Yoder of the humane society. "We have over 160 dogs between both of our campuses and nearly 100 of them are available for adoption right now."
The shelter is filling up because this is the time of year when many dogs have puppies, and the Wisconsin Humane Society has taken in dogs from other overcrowded shelters.
"We want to encourage people who have thought through the process and are ready to adopt, and maybe just needed that little push to come on in," said Yoder.
Nikkia Johnson came in Friday and found the perfect match.
"Me and my girlfriend decided we might be ready to get a dog, and he was a good fit," said Johnson.
If you can go to the Wisconsin Humane Society Friday night, they are taking $50 off all puppy and dog adoptions.
