Tactical situation in Waukesha after discovery of suspicious package
WAUKESHA - Authorities in Waukesha were involved in a tactical situation early Monday morning where police discovered a suspicious package.
They located the package at Action Power Sports at about 11:20 p.m. Sunday night on the 200 block of Travis Lane on Waukesha. Action Power Sports' facility is located in an industrial park by East Avenue.
As of Monday morning, no one was in custody.
Waukesha Police say that officers found a broken window when they came on scene.
When officers went up to the door to head inside the business, they found a suspicious package by a broken window.
The package, the size of a shoe box, was covered in duct tape.
Officers then brought in the Milwaukee County Bomb Squad.
After reaching someone who has a key to the building, they found out the that the item was what the keyholder said was a doorstop for the building.
TODAY'S TMJ4 reporter Nick Montes says that doorstop was a pair of catalogues.
Workers in businesses around the area were not able to leave their location while police were on scene.
"They were in the building and they texted me and said that police were there, and they wanted to go to lunch and they couldn't leave," said Doug Hudzinski, who works in the area.
"So I walked up here. An officer stopped me and told me there was a tactical thing going on, and they were going to be in there for a while."
Authorities left the scene of the building at about 4:30 a.m. They continue to investigate.
