TOWN OF THERESA - The Dodge County Sheriff's Department says masked gunmen who pulled off a robbery Labor Day Weekend may have been from Milwaukee.
Investigators say six to eight masked men stormed the home in the Town of Theresa on September 1. The suspects used duct tape to tie up the adults. Five children were rounded up and held while the men ransacked the home. Dodge County Sheriff Todd Nehls says they took purses, cash and watches.
Sheriff Nehls believes this wasn't a random act of violence. "This may be a situation where someone knew these families were there and knew they had some valuable watches and jewelry," Nehls said.
He also ruled out any sort of connection to gangs. Nehls said, "These are great families, in a well kept home with great children, traumatized by this event."
Investigators released a sketch of two men. The first is of the only man who wasn't wearing a mask during the robbery. The second is believed to have cased the home the day earlier.
The suspects took off in a black SUV after the crime. Victims believe they are Mexican or Puerto Rican by the Spanish they spoke.
The sheriff says they are working with the Milwaukee Police Department after locating electronic signals from stolen cell phones.
