MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee police have arrested a man they believe was involved in the hit-and-run crash that killed Javier Ortiz on Saturday. Police say the suspect was taken into custody after someone spotted the car authorities were looking for in connection with the accident.
Ortiz had been on his motorcycle near Mitchell and Pearl Streets when another car pulled in front of him. Police say Ortiz slammed on his brakes in an apparent attempt to avoid a collision, but he was thrown from the bike. He struck the right rear bumper of the oncoming car. The driver kept going.
According to police, the Milwaukee County District Attorney was expected to review the case Friday.
