VILLAGE OF HUSTISFORD- 53-year-old Jody Grimm from Shawano has been rescued safely after a large concrete block fell off part of the Lake Sinissippi Dam near Highway 60 and Highway E, and he was trapped Thursday afternoon.
Village of Hustisford Fire Chief Matt Pieper said at a news conference that the worker was extricated from under the concrete around 3:10 p.m., and that he is doing OK.
Pieper said construction crews were removing key components of the dam when part of it collapsed.
TODAY'S TMJ4 reports that after Grimm was rescued, he was seen walking under his own power.
DNR dam experts are on scene and they say, at this point, there is no significant danger of the dam breaching.
Authorities were working to get a large crane from Milwaukee to the scene, but the rescue was completed before the crane could arrive.
The area has since reopened. The dam is on the Rock River.
TODAY'S TMJ4 reports that Grimm is a longtime construction worker, and currently works for the Great Lakes Marine Construction Company.
