OCONTO- A 29-year-old Shawano man is charged in the 2009 shotgun slayings of a woman and her brother in the town of Gillett.
Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen says Daniel Schmidt is charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide.
Schmidt is accused of killing 32-year-old Kimberly Rose and her 21-year-old brother, Leonard Marsh, in May 2009. The two were found fatally shot in the home they shared.
The criminal complaint says Schmidt had started an affair with Rose but that Schmidt and his wife had decided to try to mend their marriage.
According to the complaint, Rose also had loaned Schmidt money to buy a motorcycle.
Schmidt appeared in Oconto County court Wednesday. He remains in jail with bail set at $2 million.
