MILWAUKEE - Political newcomer Eric Hovde is picking up more steam in Wisconsin's U-S Senate race.
A new survey by Marquette Law School shows 25 percent of likely voters are undecided. According to the poll's author Charles Franklin, businessman Eric Hovde has gained about eight points in recent weeks. He's trailing former Governor Tommy Thompson 35 to 23 percent.
"That reflects the nature of the campaign, so far, that has been Hovde advertising," Franklin said. "At this stage, Hovde seems to have capitalized on building some momentum in June."
The new poll comes no the heels of a separate survey released by Public Policy Polling that shows Hovde ahead of Thompson by two points.
The Marquette poll shows Hovde trailing the Democratic candidate, Rep. Tammy Baldwin, by six points, while Thompson leads Baldwin by four.
