MILWAUKEE - Starting on Monday, people in Wisconsin will have to take different steps in getting an emission test for their car.
The current centralized vehicle emissions inspection facilities have been closed.
There were a dozen of them in southeast Wisconsin and all those employees were laid off.
The new inspection network now includes about 200 private businesses including vehicle repair facilities, service stations and car dealerships.
The change saves tax payers about $600,000 and gives drivers more options for locations to get an emission test.
