Chief Flynn 'cooking the books,' says current MPD officer

Milwaukee Police Chief Edward Flynn
MILWAUKEE- A current Milwaukee police officer claims Chief Edward Flynn is "cooking the books," when it comes to crime data.
A long time Milwaukee police officer told Newsradio 620 WTMJ's John Mercure that there is no doubt Chief Flynn and his supervisors are "cooking the books."
The veteran officer told Mercure that he has been involved in incidents in the field where he calls in to a supervisor to report a burglary when it appears someone forcibly entered a home.
That is a felony.
The boss at the station may order him to classify it as a theft or criminal damage to property -- which are classified as misdemeanors -- without the boss ever going to the crime scene.
The source told Mercure this is systemic and frequent.
The Journal Sentinel recently discovered that 500 violent crimes were underreported by Milwaukee police.
