BROOKFIELD - The new restaurant by Brewers MVP left fielder Ryan Braun and Packers MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers is set to open in early July, and TODAY'S TMJ4 has the first look inside.
"We have about 35 seats here (in our bar area)," 8-twelve MVP Bar and Grill general manager Eric Kaye told TODAY'S TMJ4's Melissa McCrady while giving a tour of the restaurant named in honor of friends, MVP's and now business partners.
"We're going to have MVP jerseys up there, so the bar area will be filled with some memorabilia and the restaurant will be more of a dining area."
8-twelve is the second restaurant for Braun, who also co-owns Ryan Braun's Graffito in the Third Ward.
The new restaurant, located in Brookfield, is the first for Rodgers. The SURG restaurant group also co-owns both places.
"(Rodgers and Braun are) very involved," explained Kaye.
"Most people think that when athletes open up places, they just slap their name on it, but in this instance, they're very involved. Ryan was here the past weekend giving his input."
Although 8-twelve is named after the athletes, it is not a sports bar.
They want the focus on the food.
"My favorite is probably our fried pork ravioli," said Sous Chef Andrew Miller, who released other items on the menu to TODAY'S TMJ4.
"Our fried chicken and smoked mac and cheese that we smoked with our smoker."
Almost everything on the menu is locally grown, including herbs from the restaurant's own herb garden.
"It's our intention to use Wisconsin products whenever possible," explained Miller.
While two of Wisconsin's favorite athletes may bring you in, Kaye says the food will keep you coming back.
