Rodgers and Braun team up to open restaurant
Aaron Rodgers & Ryan Braun set to open new restaurant in partnership with SURG called 8*twelve
BROOKFIELD - While Aaron Rodgers and Ryan Braun don't play the same sport or for the same team, they are teaming up to open a new restaurant in Brookfield called 8*twelve.
From going to each other's games to staring in commercials together, the left fielder and quarterback have shown fans their friendship. Now they want you and your friends to cheer on the Brewers and Packers in one spot.
SURG Restaurant Group will own and operate the restaurant but SURG co-owner Omar Shaikh tells TODAY'S TMJ4's Jesse Ritka 8*twelve was Rodgers and Braun's idea. "Ryan just called me and he said, how about doing a restaurant and calling it 8*Twelve, Aaron and I were talking about it and that's how it all started. They wanted to give something for their fans, they wanted to give back and they wanted a place for their fans to go, watch their games and celebrate."
Named for their numbers, 8*twelve will be a family-friendly American style restaurant with sandwiches, steaks and seafood, much of it from a local, sustainable farm. It's a menu the MVP's had a helping hand in, "You'll be surprised, they know food really well," Shaikh says.
Braun is no stranger to the restaurant business, this will be his second partnership with SURG, but this is a new field for Rodgers, though Shaikh isn't worried. "They're sort of a similar guy, full of class; they're very smart, they always say the right things and they sort of have the same vision."
A vision that's already scoring with fans like Eric Patz, "Definitely interesting, I can't wait to eat here."
8*twelve is expected to open sometime in June on Bluemound Road where Charro used to be. Braun and Rodgers will be making scheduled and unscheduled appearances there.
