TOWN OF LYONS -  A 22-year-old man has died after being shot by a Walworth County Deputy early Saturday morning.

The Sheriff's Department says they were called to the 15-hundred block of Meadow Lane after receiving reports of a suicidal man just after midnight. According to officers, they were confront by John W. Brown after arriving at the home.

They say Brown was shot after refusing to drop a knife and threatening Deputies. He was later pronounced dead.   The confrontation lasted just 16 minutes.  The deputy involved is an experienced officer. No one else was hurt.

The Sheriff's Office has requested assistance from the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation to investigate the incident.

The Deputy has been placed on standard administrative leave while the investigation is underway.
