By The WTMJ News Team. CREATED May 3, 2012

MENOMONEE FALLS - Lightening caused quite a scare for people in Menomonee Falls. Neighbors not only heard it, they felt it!

“The windows shook in our house and we knew something had happened,” said Teresa Sawall.

The bolt of lightning hit the top of this garage, Debris from the brick façade flew across street. Damage to the inside was also extensive.

This is not the first time it’s happened in that neighborhood.   Neighbors can’t believe this is the second house to be hit by lightning!

“It makes me think of my chances,” said Steve Pilarski.

Martha Hood’s home was hit by lightning 2005. A bolt of lightning actually hit outside and traveled into the house. She can’t believe it happened to her neighbor.

“They say lightening doesn’t strike twice or three times or whatever but it’s kind of scary,” said Hood.

Her home ended up burning to the ground. She’s relieved that was not the result for her neighbors across the street but she knows what they are going through.

“When that lightning came into the garage today I called my husband right away and said you are not going to believe what happened.”

The owners of this house hit on Thursday were at work when the lightning hit but they tell TODAY”S TMJ4 it sure did scare their cat who was hiding in the basement when they got home
