MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office has charged a 17-year-old boy with the drunk driving death of a man riding in the boy's Jeep early Sunday morning.

The mother of the crash victim, Thomas Olson, had been killed in a reported drunk driving crash just hours before in West Allis.

Xavier Hughes faces four felony counts, including two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.

If he is convicted on all four charges, he faces up to 75 years in prison.

According to the criminal complaint, Hughes told police he was driving the vehicle at 90 miles per hour up Becher Street to get to West Allis Memorial Hospital.

Olson believed his mother, Mary Jane Moore, was at the hospital and did not know she had already passed away.

The complaint says Hughes admitted to slowing to 60 miles per hour as he tried to turn left on West National Avenue, but his Jeep rolled over.

Another man was injured in the crash.

Hughes told police that he had drank two beers, according to the complaint.

Blood alcohol concentration tests showed that Hughes had a .112 level, above the .08 legal level for someone who is at least 21 years old.
