Toddler hospitalized after lawnmower accident in Washington County
TOWN OF ERIN- A 22-month-old girl is undergoing surgery on her feet after her great-grandmother accidentally ran over the girl with a riding lawn mower.
The Washington County sheriff's office was alerted of the accident around 3:35 p.m. Thursday by the 69-year-old great-grandmother.
She told authorities she was watching the little girl and began backing up the riding mower and didn't notice the child ran up to her. The girl's feet got caught in the mower and was then taken to Children's Hospital.
The child suffered a partial amputation on one foot and had several toes amputated on the other foot -- according to the Washington County sheriff's office. The girl is expected to survive.
Authorities say it doesn't appear charges will be filed in this case.
