GREENDALE - A special tribute has been held for a little girl killed crossing a street with her mom and brother in Greendale.
Ava Zimmerman was just 5 years old when a car hit her in the crosswalk two years ago. Since that terrible day, her family has been a mission to urge drivers to cut out distractions behind the wheel, like talking on cell phones.
Their second annual Walk For AVA was Sunday afternoon on broad street in Greendale.
The 2011 walk was a success, bringing in more than 1,000 participants, and organizers say this year will be no different.
AVA stands for Advocating Vehicle Awareness.
