Wis. investigator has names for Wis. recall run

CREATED Apr. 12, 2012

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A private investigator has enough valid nomination signatures to run in this spring's recall elections after all.

Ira Robins is one of three people running as Democrats against Republican Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch. He had until the end of the day Tuesday to turn in 2,000 nomination signatures to the state Government Accountability Board. Board spokesman Reid Magney said Robins turned in enough names, but some lacked the proper dates, giving him only 1,956 valid signatures.

State law allows candidates to fix technical problems with their signatures. Magney says Robins handed in corrected paperwork Thursday morning that gives him 2,023 valid signatures.

Mahlon Mitchell, a Madison firefighter, and Isaac Weix, who is running as a fake Democrat to ensure a primary, also have turned in enough signatures to qualify.
