SHEBOYGAN- A Sheboygan woman convicted of driving drunk and crashing into three women -- killing one -- during last summer's Brat Days festival has been sentenced to six years in prison.
Nineteen-year-old Kayla Bower pleaded no contest in January to three felony charges as part of a plea deal.
The Sheboygan Press reports Circuit Judge Timothy Van Akkeren also sentenced Bower on Monday to nine years of extended supervision. Her conditions will include no consuming alcohol, speaking to high school students on the dangers of substance abuse, and restitution. Violations could put Bower back in prison for the full length of the extended supervision.
Bower was charged with nine felonies following the Aug. 6 hit-and-run crash, which killed 60-year-old Barbara Janke, of Sheboygan.
She delivered a tearful apology in court Monday.
