Tom Hecht search party takes to social media
MILWAUKEE- The search party looking for 28-year-old Tommy Hecht is taking their efforts to social media.
They're hoping Facebook and Twitter will succeed, where everything else has failed as volunteers focused their ground search in Riverwest Thursday night.
Tommy Hecht was last seen Saturday night at Rosie's On Water after a pub crawl with friends.
Taking to the Internet, friends and family members of Tommy Hecht are saturating the web with flyers; even videos with the man's picture -- hoping anyone who clicks can help the cause.
Family friend Jessica Miller helped launch tomhecht.com, an interactive website for volunteers to print pictures, view search maps, and stay connected. Running the site from Texas, she's hopeful her efforts will help.
"I don't want to feel everything I'm feeling. I want to do something," said Miller. "For those of us who aren't in Milwaukee and can't actually physically participate in this search and pass out flyers, it's a way where we can feel like we're contributing. "
While countless volunteers concentrate on streets, it's the tweets causing the buzz. Friend Bridget Fargen drove from Nebraska to help -- after watching the web closely from home.
"Social media. Twitter. Facebook. The website. That's the only way we've been able to keep up with what's going on. So that's the only way we've been able to stay connected with everyone else," said Bridget Fargen.
According to police, he was last seen wearing a green t-shirt with a St. Patrick's Day inscription on the front and green beads around his neck.
