MILWAUKEE - From pictures to his cologne, even his favorite beer; Jami Wild has a treasure of mementos of her son, Shaun.
"Shaun Wild loves his mother and he's there taking care of me and he's sent some wingmen to help really take care of me," said Jami Wild Saturday afternoon.
Those wingmen are Shaun's friends from Illinois. They've spent the week in Brown Deer with Shaun's family.
Their stories of her son, make Jami laugh as they share memories.
But Jami will tell you, it's Shaun himself who has brought her the most peace in the week since his death.
"It's like he's there. He doesn't have to work real hard to show us the signs that he's O.K. He's with us. He's going to guide us down this path."
Daniel Olaska is charged in Shaun's death.
Police say Olaska stabbed the elementary school teacher to death as Shaun tried to keep the peace during an argument between Olaska and a friend of Shaun's.
"It's so Shaun (to be the peace keeper) and it's so easy to be angry; could have, would have, should have."
But mama Wild, as Jami calls herself, won't focus on the negative feelings.
Instead, she chooses to see the positives. Including the fact her son had committed himself to his Christian faith.
"The week before his passing he had shared how excited he was to be reading the bible and his commitment to get through the bible in one year."
A faith he's helping others draw strength from, even in his death.
"It's just amazing to see the miracle of Shaun with other people saying 'Hey if that was something Shaun Wild thought might be of value, then maybe that's something I should take a look at too.'"
The Wild family has a scholarship fund set up in Shaun's name.
It will benefit future scholar athletes at Brown Deer High School.
