MILWAUKEE - In the coming months, the number of Frontier flights in and out of Mitchell International Airport will dramatically decrease.
The company confirms that direct flights to Dallas, Grand Rapids, Kansas City, Newark, Phoenix, and Philadelphia will all end later this spring.
The airline says as a result of the changes, the airline's departures from Milwaukee will be cut from 32 daily flights to 18.
When Frontier was flying under the Midwest Airlines colors, there were 90 flights a day. Sources tell Mercure that by this time next year, there could be less than ten daily flights.
In a statment, the company says, "these service reductions are not easy for any of us, as they affect some of our team members; however, they are fundamental and necessary changes for Frontier, which will enable significant profitability improvements and generate greater job opportunities and security for the majority of our 5,000 employees."
Just this past November, Frontier cut nearly a third of its routes from Milwaukee. Prior to that cut, the airline had 67 daily flights from our city.
