Recall organizers believe they have enough signatures for recall election

MADISON- Recall organizers will turn in their petitions against Governor Walker on Tuesday.

Democrats released a video Monday night.  They say this is three thousand pounds of petitions.

It took 60 days, 25,000 volunteers and $1.5 million dollars but Democrats say they've got the names to force the first ever statewide recall election in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Democratic Party Chairman Mike Tate told TODAY'S TMJ4, "We think we are going to hit or exceed 720,000 signatures. I think it's going to be a very impressive number that we hand in beyond any challenge that this election is going to happen."

Recall organizers won't show us the signatures, but the Democratic Party did give us a video of volunteers working at an undisclosed area.  They expect to turn in a total of more than one million signatures.  Keep in mind they need 540,000 signatures for each office to force a recall of Governor Scott Walker and Lt Governor Rebecca Kleefisch.

Milwaukee Lawyer Mike Maistelman has been on both sides of recall battles.  He expects Walker's campaign to challenge the signatures and that could turn into a legal tug of war with the GAB.  "

Whatever the outcome Governor Walker is preparing for an election.  "The optimist in me looks at that and says: the overwhelming majority people in the state choice not to sign that and I earned the trust of the majority the last time, my hope is I will earn their trust again."

TODAY'S TMJ4's Charles Benson reports it could take 30 to 60 days to review the signatures and verify them.  If that's the case the election could be this spring.
