Heavier snowfall in Whitefish Bay
WHITEFISH BAY - As the first big snowfall of 2012 hit Southeastern Wisconsin, the flakes were coming down a bit heavy around the noon hour.
TODAY'S TMJ4's Lacey Crisp tells us that winds were picking up around the corner of North Lake and East Silver Spring Drives.
However, as snow was falling onto the streets around noon, it was melting. Streets were becoming wet, but not icy at that point.
Public works crews tell Crisp they already had dumped salt onto streets in preparation for colder temperatures.
Managers at the Sendik's location on Lake and Silver Spring told Crisp that they had busy crowds in their store, as people were stocking up before the snow came.
Michelle Wade went shopping at Sendik's and told TODAY'S TMJ4, "I'm getting groceries to make a hearty soup because it's snowing outside and I've wanted it to snow!"
Jason Engelmann owns a snow removal company and says this year has been tough, so he's excited to finaly see some flakes. "Let it snow! We're happy to see it!" said Engelmann. "We call it white gold!"
