GENESEE - Family members say a woman died and her daughter was injured in a deadly overnight fire in Waukesha County Wednesday morning.
The state fire marshal and several other investigators were trying to find answers after the fire inside a home at about 12:30 a.m. on Road X and Dable Road in Genesee, Wis.
A Mukwonago fire official told TODAY'S TMJ4 that they were called to the scene after a report that someone was having a hard time breathing.
"A police officer arrived on scene and found there was smoke in the building," said Mukwonago Fire Department Deputy Chief Andy Wegner.
Firefighters then came to the scene to fight the fire which fully engulfed the house.
Wegner tells us that the injured person was taken to Waukesha Memorial Hospital.
Mukwonago and North Prairie fire department members fought the fire, along with mutual aid from Eagle and Waukesha.
