MILWAUKEE- A Shorewood gas station owner had to meet at DNR headquarters Thursday morning after the station appeared to be the source of a gas leak last week.
Citgo Gas Station owner Syed Rizvi has until Oct. 24th to hire an environmental consultant and come up with a plan to clean up his gas station's leak.
After he hires a consultant, Rizvi has to submit a new work plan by November 14th to the Department of Natural Resources.
Rizvi also must notify the DNR if any new environmental problems arise at the site.
Additionally he needs to make an arrangement for the proper disposal of gasoline and water barrels stored on the site.
Rizvi explained that he had recently had work done at the station involving new pipes.
Rizvi said that work, conducted by Northern Petroleum, resulted in the generation of two barrels of gasoline/water which are currently stored on the east side of the property.
Rizvi said Equitable Bank had commissioned some investigation by Benchmark at the site in 2008. He said he did not have a copy of any reports which came out as the result of that investigation.
