Interim UW-Madison chancellor gets 2nd year

Interim UW-Madison chancellor gets 2nd year

By The Associated Press. CREATED Oct 4, 2011

MADISON- The chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison has had his one-year interim term extended to a second year.

David Ward agreed in June to serve a one-year term as interim chancellor. He was returning to a familiar position, as he served as the school's chancellor from 1993 to 2000.

UW System President Kevin Reilly said Tuesday he was extending Ward's appointment. Reilly says the decision was based on feedback from faculty, staff and students who all praised Ward's performance.

Reilly says Regent President Michael J. Spector and Regent Vice President Brent Smith also supported the extension.

UW officials will begin searching for a full-time UW-Madison chancellor in the fall of next year. They hope to name a new chancellor by spring of 2013.
