MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Former state Supreme Court hopeful JoAnne Kloppenburg says she's running for an appeals court judgeship.
Kloppenburg announced Friday she will run for a position on the 4th District Court of Appeals created by Judge Margaret Vergeront's retirement. The election is set for April 2012. The 4th District includes 24 counties in south-central Wisconsin.
Kloppenburg rose to notoriety this past spring when she ran against conservative Supreme Court Justice David Prosser.
Anger over Republican Gov. Scott Walker's collective bargaining law turned what would have been a sleepy race into an intense struggle. In the end Prosser narrowly defeated Kloppenburg, but the race was so close Kloppenburg exercised her right to a statewide recount. The results, though, affirmed Prosser's victory.
