West Allis police recommend businesses close during neo-Nazi rally
WEST ALLIS - Police are recommending businesses close their doors near a planned neo-nazi rally and counter-rally on Saturday.
"We're not telling them to shut down," West Allis Deputy Chief Chuck Padgett told WTMJ's John Mercure. "They can close or remain open based on their determination."
"Whenever you have the potential for large groups of people coming to one concentrated area. There is always the potential (for problems)."
Authorities held an informational session with downtown businesses on Tuesday and explained their recommendations.
"It's just a safety precaution," Padgett explained. "It was determined that we should let these businesses know (the rallies) are occurring so they could make decisions and preparations needed."
