TOWN OF MUKWONAGO - Fire investigators say a home in Waukesha County was a total loss Monday morning after a fire there.
The couple that owns the home said two cats died in the fire.
It happened at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday night at a home on Crystal Lane Drive in the Town of Mukwonago.
The fire was so big, officials kept cameras such as our TODAY'S TMJ4 camera at quite a distance away.
A burnt out car was inside what used to be a garage. That's where it appeared the fire started, and it scorched at least two-thirds of the home.
Firefighters were reportedly surprised by how much fire engulfed the home by the time they arrived.
"At this point, they're still investigating, but it doesn't appear too suspicious," said Town of Mukwonago Police Sergeant Eric Schmidt to TODAY'S TMJ4's Tom Murray.
The home is believed to be a total loss.
Initial damage estimates were said to be about $300,000.
The homeowners said they lived there for 14 years.
