$100,000 reward offered for missing violin
MILWAUKEE - $100,000 is now being offered as a reward for information that leads to a stolen Stradivarius violin's safe return, the Journal Sentinel reported Friday.
The valuable and rare violin was stolen from Concertmaster Frank Almond Monday night. An unknown suspect used a stun gun to attack Almond, who then dropped the instrument.
Only 650 such violins are known to exist, according to Stradivarius.org. The violin has no set value, but similar specimens have sold for more than $3 million. Experts suggest the "Lipinski Strad" could fetch a sum close to $10 million.
Anyone with information about the violin's whereabouts is asked to contact Milwaukee Police or the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
