GREEN BAY - 32 NFL teams can have 32 different philosophies on how they pick players through the NFL draft.
The fruits of the Packers' most recent draft are working themselves out this August in training camp.
Packers general manager Ted Thompson took time Wednesday to help explain a bit of the team's philosophy, and the "science" that goes into the NFL Draft.
"Different positions, you have diferent numbers, measurables, all different kind of things, analytics that you go to," said Thompson.
"We're not a 'moneyball' team, but there's certain things you'd like to see...sometimes there are people outside that comfort level that are able to go beyond those kind of lmiitations."
Thompson admitted, however, that drafts are not an exact science.
"Ron Wolf (the previous Super Bowl-winning GM who had Thompson on his staff) had certain parameters where he would not go beyond that. We try to do that because it makes sense."
How often do they differ from the numerics they implement? "Not very."
