GREEN BAY - The head coach of the Green Bay Packers gave an update on the condition of the Packers players who were unable to practice due to being placed on the PUP list or due to other illnesses.
Part of that update was to show that even though players like running back Dujuan Harris, cornerback Casey Hayward, defensive end Mike Neal and offensive tackle Derek Sherrod missed practice, they're not necessarily in danger of missing the regular season.
"Harris (has a knee issue)," said McCarthy during his Friday morning news conference. He estimated Harris would return in "a week or two."
Both Hayward and Neal are "a couple weeks away," according to McCarthy. Hayward suffered a hamstring injury while Neal is battling a stomach problem.
Derek Sherrod's return from the PUP list may be the quickest, according to McCarthy.
"Got a chance to watch his post-practice workout. He's much further along when he was able to go through drill work in the OTA's. Unfortunately, with procedures in place...you can't get him out there to do drill work with the offensive line. He looks much better. I'm interested in the feedback from trainers...to see how he feels tomorrow."
