Milwaukee's Hope Christian High School might not be the biggest school on our Friday Football Frenzy broadcasts, but player for player, they might have the most heart.
They boast a roster with just 22 players.
After a winless 2012, starting 2013 with a 28-14 victory over Menomonee Indian High School couldn't be sweeter.
"We've got big leaders with our seniors, and the younger guys, they listen to us and they try to follow what we put in place," said quarterback Aaron Morris.
"It feels really good. It gets the guys excited about playing football, and over the years we've struggled, but to come out and get the first win this season is really encouraging. It's gonna help especially this early in the season," explained Jermaine Evans, the team's head coach.
He knows what he's talking about. Having played at Milwaukee Vincent, he had a career in arena football and still plays.
"I played at Milwaukee Vincent and graduated in 2002," said Evans.
"I went to Wisconsin Lutheran College and played right tackle there and played a little arena and after that, the Milwaukee Bonecrushers. I'm still playing a little actually, with the Muskego Hitmen. I still got a little bit left in the tank so I'm still going."
So do the Hawks after a big victory. They next face Whitefish Bay Dominican on Saturday.
