Another edition of the Friday Football Frenzy is in the books.
One week after some pivotal showdowns and the highest scoring game in state history, this week of the Frenzy followed up with some more hard-hitting dramatics with only two more weeks remaining in the regular season.
Marquette at Brookfield Central
It was a battle between two one-loss teams at Brookfield Central. The Central Lancers and Marquette Hilltoppers would not disappoint as this game ended in dramatic fashion.
The Lancers would come out on the attack early against the Hilltoppers. At one point, Central would lead Marquette by 25 points.
The Hilltoppers have been known for their dramatic comebacks this season. After coming back to beat Sussex Hamilton last week, Marquette would roar back once again on Friday. They would eventually climb out of their 25-point hole to take the lead over the Lancers, at 38-35.
Central would respond with a 26-yard touchdown grab from Terry Wallen with 22 seconds left to play. With one more shot to win the game, Marquette would throw a pick to ice the game at 42-38. Central wins and they move on to 6-1 on the year.
Cedarburg at Whitefish Bay
The Bulldogs were on the loose in Whitefish Bay on Friday as they took on the Blue Dukes. Whitefish Bay came into the Frenzy sitting comfortably in the North Shore Conference at 5-1.
The Bulldogs’ running back Hudson Walton got after it early and often for Cedarburg. He would turn in a big night, rushing for 239 yards and four touchdowns. Both the Bulldogs and Blue Dukes own 5-2 records.
Lake Geneva Badger at Wilmot
Wilmot would host Lake Geneva Badger under the Friday night lights this week and they would take care of business early.
After giving up 28 unanswered points to start the game, the Badgers would come back with 14 points in the fourth. It would be too little, too late as Wilmot move on to 5-2 with 28-14 victory.
Whitewater at Big Foot
The Whitewater Whippets would come marching into Walworth and on to the turf of Big Foot for their shot at knocking off the 6-0 Chiefs. Big Foot running back Tim Long would have other things in mind as he ran for 168 yards on Friday.
Big Foot would win big, 42-0. The Chiefs’ undefeated season rolls on and they are now sitting at 7-0.
Slinger vs. WI Lutheran at WI Lutheran College
After giving up 84 points and ending up on the wrong side of the highest scoring high school football game in state history, the Wisconsin Lutheran Vikings battened down the hatches defensively in their game against Slinger.
The Vikings didn’t have to score nearly as much as they did last week to win this one. They beat Slinger 15-3, and now they stand above .500, at 4-3.
